Meet the Supplier Vol.I - Eco Living

Here at The Eco Shed we have an amazing array of small businesses that provide us with their products to offer to you lovely people around the UK. In this edition of 'Meet The Supplier' we are talking with Eco Living. These amazing people provide us with our Bamboo Cotton Buds, Bamboo Cutlery plus so many other amazing products.

1. Who are you?

ecoLiving is a creator of high-quality zero waste, sustainable products for homes and businesses.

We wholesale a range of zero waste products from our own UK brand ecoLiving, which are manufactured responsibly and are plastic-free and vegan. Each ecoLiving own brand product has been carefully created with sustainability in mind, but also the designs are functional and aesthetic.

2. Why did you start your business?

The business was started originally from a passion for using and sourcing eco friendly alternatives. Our retail site was born www.boobalou.co.uk. From running this business we could see that some amazing brands should be available in more places, and that we could improve products on the market to make them even more eco friendly and sustainbale. This led to our wholesale business www.ecoliving.co.uk

3. Why is it important for you to help the environment?

There is no planet B, there are no infinite resources. We need to change the way we shop, what we buy and how we make and produce things.

4. What is your favourite product in your range?

That is a very hard question!! Overall I have to say the ecofloss

The reason is it was the most challenging and longest to create, we needed to make it the most eco friendly floss on the market, but also with a ‘cheap’ price tag so that people would actually make the swap. And we achieved this!!

The floss uses otherwise wasted resource’s, so we reuse existing resources, it is plastic free, chemical free, biodegradable and vegan!!! It uses 80% less greenhouse gases. Imagine if ours was the only floss being sold and used – how good for the environment would that be?!!

5. Do you follow any influencers doing their part for the environment?

We do! We love following influencers who are leading the way with eco-friendly living. It is hard to name just one but we love Kate from @my_plastic_free_home who gives tips and tricks to living more sustainably in her everyday life and we also love Amber from @tulips_and_a_toolbox who shares some incredible low waste DIYs. We are always learning from our followers on social media too! Sharing knowledge is so important and helps to keep us motivated and hopeful for the future.

6. Do you have any favourite news articles about the environment from the last 12 months?

There are so many informative and useful articles out there, rather than mentioning one I’d like to show my support to The Guardian who have spoken openly about remaining objective in a time where other journalism teams are influenced by commercial or political interests. The Guardian always report based on scientific fact. We think this is so important as so many agencies have an agenda and sometimes it is difficult to detect. Our number one agenda is helping the environment and we want to read daily reporting that supports this!

7. Using 3 words, describe your business and explain why you chose those words.

Ethical – this is of utmost importance to us. We want to treat all partners fairly and as we would wish to be treated (this includes customers, suppliers and producers). We give back being part of the 1% for the planet and we plant tress with every order

Environmental – Obviously this is why the business is around and we never forget that, not for profits or for making things easier. The most important thing is the environment. We only sea freight goods where they have to come from abroad, we drive electric vehicles and power our office from renewable energy. We have no printer, use no plastic in packaging or in our office. And of course every product is developed with the environment mind.

Energetic – we don’t stop!! Creating new products, finding new ways to reduce reuse, recycle. We are never closed!

8. What are your plans for the future?

To continue to increase our product range, we have so many new products in the pipeline e and cant wait to share them with you all.
